What are some good rock and roll bands or "indy" that don't make wussy music?

I don't like much rock i hear on the radio because it all sounds like
a bunch of castrated crybabies so i want something that's got more
testosterone but at the same time my friends listen to death metal and
all this crazy screaming stuff that i don't like either because its
kind of ridiculous and unrelatable.
Eg. of a rock songs I love
Bob Dylan - like a rolling stone
Chuck berry- Maybaline
Jimmy Hendrix- voodoo child

help me out with some newer rock of that style/calibre?
the bands i don't like are like coldplay, nickelback, etc.
